Bell Nomad 2 MIPS Bike Helmet Review: Great Value Trail Protection
If you’re looking for a solid, no-frills mountain bike helmet that doesn’t break the bank, the Bell Nomad 2 MIPS is a strong contender. I’ve been using it on local trails and casual rides, and it delivers exactly what most riders need without the premium price tag.
Key highlights:
- Integrated MIPS technology — This is the big one. The MIPS Evolve system helps reduce rotational forces in certain impacts, adding that extra layer of brain protection that’s become a must-have for many of us.
- Comfortable fit — The Ergo Fit dial adjustment at the back makes it super easy to get a secure, customized fit. The upgraded padding feels plush and stays comfortable even on longer rides.
- Trail-ready design — It has a removable visor to block sun and branches, deeper rear coverage for that mountain bike style, and plenty of vents (around 15) to keep airflow decent on hot Texas days.
- Lightweight and durable — Weighing in around 320g (M/L size), it’s not the absolute lightest out there, but it feels balanced and the in-mold polycarbonate shell holds up well to trail knocks.

It’s not the most ventilated helmet I’ve tried (some road-oriented ones edge it out in extreme heat), and the fit system can occasionally ride up a bit if not dialed in perfectly—but for the price, these are minor trade-offs.

Overall, this is an excellent budget-to-midrange option for trail riders, commuters, or anyone wanting MIPS without spending $150+. Bell has a solid reputation, and the Nomad 2 lives up to it for everyday use.
Highly recommend for the safety features and value.
